Sexual Heritage in Print Preservation
Project
Volunteers
It is a huge task collecting, scanning,
using OCR, formatting, and then converting the books to the Ebook format.
It would not be possible without the voluntary efforts of those sharing
our belief in the importance of making these books available.
Here is how we are putting together the
collection:
All the books must be in English.
Pre 1800- The book should have had some
impact on sexuality or offered important insight into the era.
Post 1800- Pretty much anything on sexuality,
from fiction to non-fiction.
Any book prior to 1923 is in the public
domain. Books published between 1923 and 1963 may be in the public domain
if the copyright owner failed to renew the copyright.
The procedure is fairly simple. Books are
scanned and converted into plain text. The text is then formatted into
HTML using the Times Roman font, double-spaced. The first page is always
the Erotic University intro page and an introductory page explaining the
significance of the book is added. We use the free Reader
Works Standard software to convert the book to Microsoft Ebook format
which uses the free Microsoft
Reader. The Books can be read on Windows computers and Pocket PC devices.
To get involved, just fill out the form
below, indicating your area of interest.
The Ebooks in our library remain
in the public domain and are freely redistributable.
