A key element of any anal toy is that it have a large base to keep it from slipping too far inside. Unlike a butt plug, this does not have a wide enough flare to be held in place. It can be used for sliding in and out, though, which you can't really do with a butt plug (not comfortably anyway).
As with any anal toy, use lots and lots of lube. The small size of this toy makes it good as warm up to other types of anal play, especially if using larger objects. It is also a good choice for first timers, as it is not quite as intimidating as larger toys. Always take your time, and keep communicating with your partner to make sure that you are going at the pace they can handle. Keeping them relaxed and comfortable is key.
